Jessup is looking for a Mixing Technician / Machine Operator to join our growing organization! The Mixing Technicians primary responsibility is to mix all coatings for the Faustel coating line and the Maker. Secondary role is to fill in for other Operational roles during times that mixing is not needed.


  • Accurately stages and prepares all raw materials for efficient blending and mixing of ingredients for product formulas according to established formulation mixing procedures; works closely with operators to understand, prioritize, and support the mixing needs for all production lines.
  • Assists in loading and setup of machines in accordance with instructions; operates up to two machines independently; assists in operating additional machines as needed.
  • Monitors and regulates all process and utility systems and equipment ensuring operation within proper parameters. Reviews work orders, product specifications and special instructions to ensure thorough understanding of production requirements.
  • Monitors production process closely in order to quickly identify any quality issues. Stops production run immediately if problems are detected; alerts Machine Operators and Production Manager
  • Identifies finished products with accurate part number, work order number, lot number, and any other information required to effectively identify the product; verifies that the final product produced meets quality standards and product specifications.
  • Properly completes documents for OTC and GMP (lot codes, batches, expiration dates and other required data).
  • Collects and analyzes process samples; performs lab analysis to ensure product meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Conducts physical inspections of equipment (drums, vents, mixer, etc.); performs minor mechanical adjustments on equipment and systems, when needed. Identifies equipment problems and informs Maintenance and Production Manager.
  • Troubleshoots problems and offers recommendations to improve quality, efficiency, safety or communication processes and product flow
  • Follows all safety guidelines, including but not limited to proper lifting techniques, use of required PPE, Lockout/Tagout, etc. Reports all unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work area according to 5S standards; keeps the area organized, clean and sanitary.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED; strong mathematical ability and mechanical coursework preferred
  • 2 years experience operating mixing equipment in a manufacturing environment


  • Able to understand and follow established procedures to operate safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally sound manner
  • Able to read product specifications, understand verbal work instructions, and accurately record required data
  • Able to learn instrumentation and control systems
  • Attentive to detail; able to recognize problems, collect and analyze information, define root cause, and take appropriate action
  • Able to learn and use computer and monitoring equipment
  • Able to work in an environment with fragrance fumes, chemicals, and dust
  • Able to propel and control the movement of heavy chemical vats (100s of lbs) on wheeled pallets across warehouse and production floor and up and down slight ramps
  • Able to push, pull, or make other movements to convey large multi-ton rolls of material from warehouse shelves, onto fork lift, and into correct position on machine
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs of weight
  • Demonstrates high level of initiative and able to plan activities in advance; can adjust to frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
  • Maintains an excellent attendance record; overtime work is also expected
